Modular Building for Childcare Project in Edenmore

modular-building-childcare-exterior7Maccom recently assisted the Garden of Eden Childcare Project Edenmore in providing a state of the art modular building childcare facility for permanent use at St Malachy’s school Edenmore.

Childcare Facility Manager Ms Emma Lynch and her Design Team set Maccom the task of creating a Modern, Bright and Energy efficient Childcare Facility which could specifically cater for a variety of age groups and various staffing requirements. Together with the Architects Nolan Quinlan and Mechanical and Electrical Engineers J V Tierney we set about creating attractive classrooms which would be both efficient and attractive.

Maccom were pleased to win the supply contract and they worked hand in hand with the Child Care Centre Team in developing the project from inception to installation which incidentally took just over 12 weeks from when Maccom delivered the modular buildings to the site to handing over the keys.

modular-building-childcare-interior1We wanted to deliver a first class facility which would rival any “Traditional Style Construction” at a fraction of the cost and within an acceptable and very short timeframe.

We also wanted to ensure that it was a lot more than a portable building so we used internal vinyl faced plasterboard and the electrical fit out included 3 core dado communication trunking which caters for electricity, data and telephones. The unit is finished with suspended ceilings and integrated defused lighting which makes for a superior high specification interior look.

A full Mechanical and Electrical Fit out designed by JV Tierney’s included a Wet Heating System with panel radiators, temperature controlled anti scald hot water supply to all sinks, Fully fitted Kitchen, Staff Rooms, Fire and Intruder Alarm systems.

We took account of the client’s needs for special access ramps and railings and we kept the colour scheme in line with the local environment.

modular-building-childcare-exterior4Maccom incorporated their unique ‘modular specification into the design of the facility with special roller shutter window covers so this means that the buildings is as secure as any house and it is a bit more secure than most.

This new facility which is based within the local School grounds has its own access and includes all site office works including

• Foundations and civil works
• Connections to water, electricity and Gas.
• Palladine Fencing and Gates,
• Soft Tile Play Area
• Play Ground Shed,
• Landscaping and Planting
