Temporary Classrooms
Five elementary schools in five American Samoan villages were destroyed or severely damaged by the tsunami of September 29, 2009. Â In the interim, temporary classrooms made of aluminum and vinyl covering are being erected. Â A visit to two school sites by the infrastructure branch director on the island shows the modular classrooms under construction. Children at Afono Tele Elementary School are among the first to enjoy one of the new air-conditioned temporary classrooms that FEMA has installed at five schools destroyed or damaged by the earthquake and tsunami.
